Accommodation

As leaders you will know best the needs of your group. We will supply you with room and building layouts so you can decide where people are best placed. Of course we can always help if you need us to.

Group leader rooms are interspersed between larger dormitories for easy supervision of junior groups. Each leader room has a television, DVD player and tea and coffee making facilities. Leaders also have their own dedicated shower and toilet facilities and leader lounge with television and an open log fire.

Meals and special diets

Essentially we can do anything you need. We have suggested menus for adult and junior groups which automatically eliminate the majority of allergies, i.e. dairy, nuts, egg etc. Our standard menus also respect the majority of faith based dietary limitations. If you want something specific we can do it, birthday cakes, specific meal times, packed breakfasts for early departures. All we need is a few days notice before you arrive.

Safety and Security

YHA takes the health, safety and welfare of all customers, staff, volunteers and others who may be affected by our business very seriously. We are committed to making continuous improvements to the arrangements of health and safety. YHA’s commitment to your group:

YHA will take all reasonable precautions to ensure the safety and security of your group and property. YHA staff are trained in, and capable of, handling emergency situations
A member of staff will be available during hostel opening hours and at night to help with emergencies
We operate strict close-down procedures and fire security checks every night
Your group leader will have access to a telephone at all times
The hostel manager will brief the group leaders on safety and security
YHA will assist with providing risk assessment information on request

Responsibility for the group rests with group leaders. YHA staff cannot act ‘in loco parentis’, but will report inappropriate behaviour to Group leaders for action.

Risk Assessment

The document identifies potential risks to all site areas along with measures in place to reduce or remove the risk. A copy of this document can supplied on request.

Child Protection

The YHA Child Protection Policy outlines action YHA staff and volunteers must take to ensure the safeguarding of young people during a stay. The policy includes details of recruitment procedures, staff screening, training, and bed management. A copy of the YHA Child Protection Policy Statement is available on request..
